The consumer health data we collect
We collect this data directly from you, in the app. We do not buy it, and we do not obtain it from data brokers or from other apps or devices.
| Category | What it is | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Bodily measurements | Height, weight, and the BMI calculated from them | You enter it during onboarding and when you log a weigh-in |
| Diet and nutrition | The meals you log, their food items, and the calories and macronutrients attributed to them | You log them by photo, barcode, text search, or manual entry |
| Meal photographs | Photos of food you scan, which may show the food and its surroundings | Your camera or photo library, when you choose to scan |
| Health and wellness goals | Your stated goal (lose, maintain, gain, or recomposition), your target weight and pace, and your calorie and macronutrient targets | You choose them during onboarding and can change them any time |
| Wellness logs | Water intake and mood check-ins | You log them |
| Demographic data used for health calculations | Date of birth, biological sex, activity level, and optionally gender identity | You enter them during onboarding |
Gender identity is collected but not used. It is stored and shown back to you and drives nothing in the app.
Why we collect it
- To calculate your personal calorie and macronutrient targets.
- To identify foods and estimate portions from the photos you scan.
- To show you your diary, your progress charts, and your wellness history.
- To back up your data to your account so you can restore it and use Calvore on more than one device.
- To enforce a daily fair-use limit on AI photo scans.
- Where you have separately turned it on, to evaluate and improve the accuracy of our food recognition.
We do not use consumer health data for advertising, and we do not use it to build profiles about you for any purpose other than the ones above.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your consumer health data. We have never sold it, and selling it would require your separate, written authorization, which we do not seek.
We share it only with service providers who process it on our behalf, under contract, and only as needed to run the app:
| Who | What they receive | What for |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Your account data, diary, wellness logs and meal photos | Database, authentication and photo storage |
| OpenRouter, and through it Google and OpenAI | The meal photo you scan, at the moment you scan it | Identifying foods and estimating portions |
| RevenueCat | Your purchase receipt and account identifier | Managing your subscription |
The AI gateway is configured to disable prompt logging and to use providers that do not train on your content.
PostHog, our analytics provider, receives no consumer health data. Our analytics events carry only counts, categories and durations — never a weight, a calorie total, a food name, a note, a photo, or your email.
How long we keep it
We keep your consumer health data while your account is active. When you delete your account, it is permanently erased after a 30-day recovery window, during which signing back in restores it.
Your rights
As a Washington resident, you have the right to:
- Access your consumer health data, and to get a list of all third parties with whom we have shared it, along with contact information for each.
- Confirm whether we collect, share, or sell your consumer health data.
- Withdraw your consent to our collection and sharing of it.
- Delete your consumer health data.
How to exercise them: email [email protected] from the address on your Calvore account. We will respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we will tell you why within that period and may take up to 45 days more.
You can also delete your account and all of this data yourself at any time, from Account → Delete account in the app, or at calvore.app/delete-account without installing it.
Deleting is permanent. Once the 30-day recovery window passes, your consumer health data cannot be recovered, including by us.
If we refuse a request, we will tell you why, and you may appeal by replying to our response. We will decide the appeal within 45 days and explain our reasoning in writing. If we deny the appeal, you may contact the Washington State Attorney General at www.atg.wa.gov/file-complaint.
Nevada residents
Nevada SB 370 gives Nevada residents comparable rights over consumer health data. We apply the practices described in this policy — no sale, no advertising use, access, deletion and withdrawal of consent — to Nevada residents on the same terms. Use the same contact address to exercise them.
